The 3 Essence of Life

Monday, July 31st, 2006

I took this photo accidentally while trying to take the pic of the scene (that’s what happened if you’ve been holding your camera’s shutter button halfway for more than 3 minutes trying to compose. Your finger just gave up and it snaps) where people are enjoying the meal.

After some ‘post-processing’, it would make reasonably nice promo (for whatever), no? Hehe, I hope Bahar won’t start chasing me with his cart full of acids afterwards. *runs*

Test Shots

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

I haven’t really been so serious about photography until recently. I’ve been into photography since I was 15, of when back then I was awarded an SLR 35mm Camera from my old man. Dads sometimes have this one soft spot when they see their kids like to do what they like to. Like, my old man loves photography and when he sees I’m so into it, he got me a cam. It was a Yashica 109mp manual focus SLR (with motorized drive) along with Vitacon 28-210mm f3.5-5.6 lens, with Yashica Flash (can’t recall which model). Nothing really outstanding, but this camera brings me loads and loads of fun (and loads and loads of saving up allowance to process the films afterwards. Haha).

When I entered the University, I still bring the camera around, until the digital camera age started to creeps in. By that time, I got myself a Sony Mavica. Back then in the year 2000, the sensors weren’t great yet. So I opted for Mavica due to its versatility in using easily-obtained floppy disks. However, I picked the wrong model and ended up buying a 0.3megapixel (640 x 480 max) ones. Even with this shortcoming, I really had fun with the camera. In fact, it is still alive today, with the only problem of the dying Lithium battery. Getting a new one of those will set me back a few hundred. Jeez. (more…)

Jack with the Celcom Photocopier Lawyers. Yahoo!

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

I know the instance you saw the title above, you will be thinking “What the heck is this?”. I can ensure you that the topic is actually a summary of what I’m going to post. There’s four (yes, four) topics in one above, and this post is a bitching, whining and nothing-better-to-do post.

Let’s start. Shall we? (more…)

“Good Morning”

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Good Morning” is a very simple phrase many of us use at work, when you just arrived and sit down at the office.

Good Morning” also something you would say when you meet or saw any of your homies wake up in the morning.

Good Morning” is a general way of greeting people in the morning, or also used in any other time if the one who says it consider it to be their mornings.

Yeah, this phrase is a small matter nobody really cares about, and if one cares about this phrase to a great deal, the person is probably insane.

Unfortunately, I am this insane person.

I miss the “Good Mornings…” I always get everyday back then :(

Trash Engineers, Part II

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

If you have seen my previous post called “Trash Engineers“, this is the installment of the series. Enjoy.

(Note: Click on the images to view the full-size version)

Trash EngineersTrash Engineers
Top: These are at the ATMs center in MMU Cyberjaya. The trashcans are practically empty (especially the big one). However, all the transaction slips are littered like nobody’s business.

Trash EngineersTrash Engineers
Top: Drinks - the often forgotten ‘trash’. People buy drinks, hang them somewhere, and then forget about them. Even when they’re almost full!

Trash Engineers
Top: For this one, apparently someone failed to differentiate a trash can to a mailbox. I wonder if the word ‘Cyberia Smarthomes’ really does only refer to the houses and not the people.

Stay tuned for more installment of “Trash Engineers

The Great Quest (of finishing a Lasagna)

the_struggle_t1.jpg

Today’s my birthday (yeah, I’m getting old. Isn’t that obvious?), and Bebe is treating me Pizza Hut. We ordered the Cheesy Bites, and we seriously underestimated this meal of its filling ability. So we ordered a Lasagna, since its between 3.00pm and 6.00pm that time, and Pizza Hut is offering a special rate for certain meals between this times.

The series of photos above is about the struggle to finish the Lasagna after fully stuffed with the Pizza, Mushroom Soup, Breadsticks and Pepsi (click on the image to view a slightly larger version of it).

Yahoo! & Windows Live! (MSN) Interoperability

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Earlier this morning I’ve got and invite to try the new Windows Live! Messenger (this is actually MSN Messenger 8) with the new support for Yahoo! Messenger interoperability. I quickly signed up and download the updated client.

Once it’s installed, I tried adding my own Yahoo! Messenger account, and voila! I got a notice from Yahoo! Messenger saying someone from Windows Live! wants to add me, and I have to update my client to be able to talk to this person (I am using the current Yahoo! Messenger 7.5). So another round of quick sign up with the Yahoo! Messenger 8 beta program and installed the client.

Finally, these two can talk to each other directly just like that. Soon (when the beta ends and this service is launched officially) we can choose to stick to only one preferred client, and still have all our favorite contacts in it!

XALAN/ACE Phone Virus Hoax

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

I got this e-mail too, in my inbox, along with the one earlier:

Dear All,
If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that, he or she is a company engineer, or telling that they’re checking your mobile line, and you have to press # 90 or #09 or any other number.

End this call immediately without pressing any numbers. There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your “SIM” card and make calls at your expense. Forward this message to as many friends as you can, to stop it.

All mobile users pay attention if you receive a phone call and your mobile phone displays (XALAN) on the screen don’t answer the call, END THE CALL IMMEDIATELY, if you answer the call, your phone will be infected by a virus..

This virus will erase all IMEI and IMSI information from both your phone and your SIM card, which will make your phone unable to connect with the telephone network. You will have to buy a new phone. This information has been confirmed by both Motorola and Nokia. There are over 3 Million mobile phones being infected by this virus in all around the world now. You can also check this news in the CNN web site. PLEASE FORWARD THIS PIECE OF I NFORMATION TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS HAVING A MOBILE

After doing some research, I’ve found out that this claim about the mysterious ‘XALAN’ user is completely a hoax and untrue. More reading can be done below:

- Info about this hoax at Hoax-Slayer.com
- Info from Trend-Micro

I really, really hope people could at least do some research before forwarding some untrue e-mails all over the world. This will never end any form of ‘virus’ or ’scam’ attacks, but will flood the mail server traffic, not to mention wasting some production time to read the so-called ‘important reminder’.
