What is a Blog?
Recently, I’ve gotten involved in a community, consisting of alot of people that is about to start their first ever blog (most of them). From the way I see it, I can safely conclude that quite a huge portion of these people don’t know what exactly is a blog.
Many of them know a blog is like a website, where you can write what you want, put some advertisements, and then promote it everywhere, to hopefully generate some income from the traffic. I personally think people who wants to blog should know what exactly is this thing called a “BLOG“.
(I planned to write about this myself earlier on, but I stumbled to TV Smith’s Dua Sen’s article about the same matter, and I think his description about what is a blog is as best as it can get)

Tell me if you understand what he explains. Feel free to ask me (or him) about this matter should any of you are not clear about the actual meaning of “blogging”.

Apparently, a bunch [more like, a bulk] of Malaysian bloggers decided to blog in Malay during 31st August. The name of the campaign? “Mari Kita Berbelog dalam Bee Ahm!”.
I can see where this is going.
Blog = Belog
Blogger = Pembelog
Blogging = Berbelog
Blogged = Dibelog, Terbelog
Blogosphere = Blogosfera
Blogmeet = Perjumpaan Belog
Blog entry = catatan belog
Belog? .__. *scratches head*
Somehow it sounded more like ‘belot’ or ‘belut’ to me after reading all that terms!
What is ‘Log’ in Malay to begin with? Anybody know? (Don’t have access to dictionary at the moment)
It seems that any blogger who has a blog and blogs steadily for a couple of months will eventually ask themselves these two questions: what is the significance of the blogger’s blog and why the blogger is blogging. I guess it’s a trend of some sort.
Fird: Haha I guess so. My original intention is to educate certain community (this blog gets sent via a newsletter or some sort) about what exactly blogging is all about.
The only literal translation for ‘Log’ would be ‘Balak’, lol. I think the proper translation would be ‘Catatan’.
Fird: ‘Catatan’ (Jottings?) sounds as close as it can get to me I think. Although ‘Catatan Si Fird’ would sound horribly strange compared to Fird’s Blog. Maybe I’m too used to the English words, that my own mothertongue sounds weird!
