Friendster Closing Down Hoax (yet again)
This is a hoax (which means, fake news). If friendster want to close down, ever, they will definitely announce about it (unless they are very unprofessional, that is). No sane and proper company will ask anybody to forward 20 copies of unsolicited messages/email randomly just like this. They will e-mail them individually!
So, stop forwarding this nonesense and please, relieve us of any stupid spam. Next time if you’re unsure if its fake or not, DO your research or better still, DO NOT forward!
(note: this has been cirulating, as far as I’ve remembered, dated back since 2004)
Here’s the sample of the message:
Message from Mr. Allen Smith (manager of friendster):
Friendster system is getting too crowded!! We need you to forward this to at least 20 people. I know this seems like a large number, but we need to find out who is really using their account. If you do not send this to at least 10 Friendster members, we will delete your account.
Stop the spam people! Don’t be spammers is the very first step. Do homework. Don’t be lazy.

Correction. This started with yahoo mail., going way back to 1996, maybe even earlier. It’s a hoax that has continued to survive for over a decade.
30 years from now, where 10TB memory cards are probably no bigger than a toothpick, I won’t be surprised when I see that people STILL forward this EXACT SAME MESSAGES.
Porbably change friendster to Google or something. I think noobs escape the karma cycle. They don’t seem to be reborn into a bird or a piece of lemang.
They just die and reincarnate as noobs again, continuing their legacy of terrorising the internets with their sheer incompetence coupled with the lack of a brain.
Oh yes, now I remembered. “Yahoo is closing down fwd this as petition” crap. Which also reminds me about the hoax about this “O-Yes” Operating system that supposedly is going to beat Microsoft’s popular OS and is so-called the fastest OS in the market ever made.
Then Yahoo Messenger, Google, Fwd donation e-mail and for every forward it will donate 7 cent, with superb tracking system. AFAIK, if there’s such tracking system in built any emails that can be accessed immediately, the origin of such hoax would easily be traced. Burn the starter to death and do a live cast and pubish it in YouTube. Grr
(five minutes ago I’m still getting ‘Yahoo Messenger is going to be paid service’ crap, and when I told the him off, he said he’s doing ‘his responsibility’ as a citizen. My ass)
