For those who don’t know, Cyberia Condominium is located in Cyberjaya, next to the Multimedia University (MMU). Most of the time, people who study in MMU, Lim Kok Wing University College of Technology (LUCT) and those that are working in various Local and MNC companies around Cyberjaya will be staying in this condo. Actually, its more of an apartment than a condominium though.
On a bright day, often in the morning, Cyberia is pretty much peaceful, more so if its raining at that time. People are walking around, going to and back from classes. At night, however, its a completely different story. Let’s start by the unexplainable phenomenon. Take a look at the picture below:
Looks like a very peaceful night, right? Absolutely not. Every single minute is filled with screams, yells, loud laughter, and cross-block “conversation”. Some even called the other end with a mobile phone and face each other across blocks while STILL talking loudly. The sounds got worse if its Saturday night of course. They often don’t stop till dawn. There’s one particular occurrence where a bunch of girls screams (of excitement) non stop from noon till midnight. I wonder what kind of fun are they having, seriously. Would want to join too!
So-called ‘Smarthomes‘ (yes, it is advertised as ‘Cyberia Smarthomes’), most of the units are fitted with a security system that is linked to an intercom and plethora of sensors to detect unwanted entry or exits. More often than not, these sensors will hit a false alarm out of nowhere - even when there’s nothing passing through! Imagine this - you just wake up, it was a beautiful sunday, the sun is rising very beautifully, and then all of a sudden, there’s 3 to 4 alarms triggered as if they are alarm clocks!. God dammit, there goes my morning!
The people are no better. Most of the time, if you’re driving out of the compound, especially when the 429 bus just finished dispatching the passengers out, you’ll see that Cyberians regard themselves as “invincible“, “immortal” and “owning the road“. They will normally flock around the roundabout area, ignoring all passing vehicles (who in turn, have to STOP FOR THEM instead), and even with the vehicle waiting for them to cross, they will take their sweet time to cross the roundabout as if it belong to each and everyone of their grandmothers.
Not only pedestrians, drivers are weird too. Once I’ve caught into a stall while going out of Cyberia simply because a car stopped in the middle of the narrow road to chat with his friend on a motorbike. WTF? They don’t give a damn until you honk at them several times.
