How To: Getting to JPN and JPJ Putrajaya

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Earlier last year, I’ve posted some sort of rant related to JPJ and JPN Putrajaya. However, an interesting thing happened - this post often being viewed by someone who is seeking directions to get to these department instead.

If you happen to be one of these people, I am terribly sorry you have to read my rant instead of finding your direction. So to make up for that, here’s some basic direction guide to those buildings. Note that my guide is heavily based on landmarks, popular ones that is. If you are not familiar with Putrajaya’s layout, I would suggest you to ask around for directions to the Putrajaya Mosque (Masjid Putrajaya) first, before proceeding with this guide. (more…)

What is XD?

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

While this might not be a strange term for most of you that always chats with me via instant messengers, I do get asked "huh? what is 'XD'?". Most of the time I manage to explain it in words.

But sometimes certain people (especially those that takes life way too seriously) fails to understand what does it mean.

'XD' is an emote (yes, similar to :) or :( we always use). Literally, here's now 'XD' would look like:

XD

Understand now? It represents an excited emote :)

Now let's spread the word!

This post is dedicated to my brother, who loves to draw and now picking up digital coloring on his own. He asked me on how to make a metal appear shiny in the drawing. So I've come out with this basic guide. Hope this will be helpful for budding artists out there!

How To: Dynamic Rounded Corners with CSS

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

At one point of time, I was so obsessed with rounded-corners. In my opinion, if used right, rounded corners will make an interface (especially segmented websites like blogs or portals) looks more manageable and attractive.

When I was just learning up web-development and HTML, I will make use of tables made from 9-cells (3x3) to realize my "rounded corner" desire. This is very simple, all you have to do is to create 4 images to represent the corners and arrange them up in such way (red lines signifies the cells):

9-Cell Table that is used to simulate “rounded corners”

There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing this, even now. However, I am personally sick of coding the tables - plus, should I decided I don't want the round corners anymore, it would be troublesome for me to edit the entire template file just to do that. However, thanks to the powerful styling properties of CSS, there's a better way to do this. (more...)

Many of Superman fans will know what a Kryptonite is - a mineral, supposedly green in color, that will weaken Superman upon exposure.

Superman said Oh Noes to finding of Kryptonite!
(Superman image taken from WikiPedia)

However, the 'Kryptonite' (which is actually a sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide substance) that have been found in Serbia recently, it not quite green (although it will glow in orange under a UV light).
