Why Do People Make Their Lives Hard? Part 2
I’m sorry guys, this is yet-another-whine thread. If you don’t like these kind of post, back off now. This post don’t really have a direct relation on my previous post “Why Do People Make Their Lives Hard?. But I do feel that it is somewhat around the same action people always do.
We often hear employees complain about their company not being on-time, not being competent, not paying enough, etc. I mean, these kind of thing happens all the time. Let’s look at one recent incident that almost cause me to be a murderer.
You see, recently, my team involves in a company transition (we are transferred from company X to company E). Company E promised to give a better or equal, pro-rated benefits as given by company X. This is written in their offer letter, thus a black and white is there.
Some of the engineers are unhappy because they felt that they are earning far less in the new company, as compared to what the previous company offers. Naturally, they will get frustrated, started bitching and complaining. As their superior, naturally, their complain goes to me. I am personally frustrated as well, but I often try to understand it from their point of view. Now here’s where the problem starts.
About a month ago, we had a meeting, and this issue was brought up to me. A few days after a meeting, one of the team members sent out a poll (survey) of dissatisfaction, to be a somewhat like a petition to call for official meeting so they can bug and bash the company. The problem in this survey is it only have “Yes” and “No” answer for only one question. I then asked them to drop me an email, individually if they wish, detailing all the frustrations and complains they have so I could officially forward it to the management.
Three weeks pass by and nobody send me anything.
Today, I got the very same complain again, same argument, same person. These people did not even send me their woes, and yet still bitching here and there? I am complaining, now, because the shit all goes to me for no reason. I have no control over this issues, and the only best thing I can do is forward them to the management.
These people KNOW the frustration when their e-mail is responded late by the management, or with unsatisfactory reply. But none of them give a shit on how frustrated I am when every single bit of my e-mail for important issues are ignored like cow dung. What I didn’t get is why is it so hard to just drop me an e-mail detailing their issues? Scared? Why are you guys scared when it is YOUR right?
