I get to know about this Bittorrent Client from a few friends - but as usual I don’t really check it out because I was pretty comfortable with my uTorrent.
I’m fiddling with Ubuntu 7.10 “Gutsy Gibbon” at the moment, and I’ve decided to give Deluge a try. To my surprise, this client works pretty well, looks good and don’t have excessive features that I don’t need. Deluge comes with certain amount of plugins which you can enable/disable at your discretion (kind of like Pidgin/Gaim).
If you’re from Malaysia, you know how our ISP is throttling our P2P bandwidth. But my oh my look at my Deluge (without tweaks):

Where to get Deluge?
You can either download the client from Deluge Torrent’s website, or if you are using Ubuntu, you can get it by issuing this command:
$sudo apt-get install deluge-torrent
I will then appear on your Applications menu.
Have fun!

Been using the windows build for quite some time, not the best client out there but it serves it purpose (read: “optimum” speed, kekeke).

Well it runs well, but maybe not for Jaring. I’ve yet to see a faster connection, but on the average, its more consistent, no spikes, no lags, just consistency. (although slower for some weird reason)
There’s this another torrent i’m using, its called Tuotu. So I’m alternating between them to get the best speeds per torrent. (switching clients on certain times)

Ah Toutu. This is the Chinese BitTorrent client right? Also known as Thunder?

Ah, Deluge..using it now, myself, as recommended by a bunch of friends from an irc channel. Though the speeds I’m getting are nothing to shout about, it is more consistent than utorrent IMO. RAM usage is a bit higher than utorrent, but I have the sxtra memspace to spare, heheh. And yeah, using the Windows build myself, since I’m too much of a pansy to use linux ;__;

Haha yeah. Actually I found this out from you, indirectly. When I went back home and noticed my little brother using it. I asked where did he got it from and he mentioned you :p
So thanks to you, I’m now having problems with HDD space XD. It’s a compliment btw!

yap. the one they call “Thunder”. The good thing about this baby is that it actually supports what they call as “hybrid stream”, where torrent, e-mule, KAD, e-donkey and direct HTTP downloads all work at the same time (if found).
LOL.
That’s really good. Honestly. =D

somehow my deluge is fucking slow..
can u help me with this bro?
On November 20th, 2007 at 10:28 am
Hmm, well the speed doesn’t depend on deluge alone. The peer/seed ratio is also a key, but if it is well seeded (close to 1:1), then try checking if you’re blocked by router or something.

and how do i check that router thang?
