Mobile Suit Gundam Speed
Last Saturday, I went to Sogo with Bebe, and on our way, we drop by Mydin to look for any cute stuff (Bebe’s getting some stuff, and I’m just browsing around). I love browsing through Mydin, as I always can find things that amuse me in there. And during this visit, Mydin once again did not disappoint me. I bring forth to all of you otakus, new series of Gundam!

It’s a cheap way to avoid copyright infringements because the name is not the same as the original. It doesn’t mean that the companies involved won’t be able to pursue legal action though since the pictures are there, just that it can be twisted and manipulated in court because of the name.
The amount of counterfeit products is still very alarming and seeing as these are school backpacks, the target audience is kids. Quality is very questionable since most like these products don’t go through quality control.
For backpacks, it might mean that they won’t be able to carry the weight of books, that seem to increase now for schoolchildren, and will wear and tear very rapidly, causing parents to buy bags again and again, losing more money, or worse the childs homework might slip through a hole in the bag and fall into a drain.
Counterfeit toys are much more dangerous. There are cases where kids have been hospitalized due to use of counterfeit toys, i.e. parts easily coming off and become choking hazards, mechanical parts not working they should causing cuts or worse.
On the otaku side, we will be very sad if we find the product we bought was not original, because this is a violation of the otaku world. We pay alot of bucks to get our merchandise and we want it to be of high standards and rarity. It would hurt us very much if what we bought hundreds or thousands of ringgit is fake :(
