iPod Touch + Phone, Finally!

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

I got sick of carrying two gadgets around, so I take a drastic measure - sell both and get one that can do both! I’m using a HP 512 Voice Messenger that I bought myself for my birthday last year, and somewhere in Nov 2007, lady luck grants my wish and I won myself an iPod Touch.

But you see, carrying these items in my pocket is starting to be a burden - because I keep coins in my pocket as well, I don’t want to risk scratching the iPod Touch, so I have to put it in one pocket and junk everything else in another pocket, and I appear like an army wearing slacks due to the bulge on the other pockets.

So after rounds of auctioning and answering silly ultra-low-price offers from various people (trust me, those who have sold items in LowYat would understand this), I manage to sell them off at a price I’m comfortable with, and I got myself this:

And now I can carry only one item - not even in my pocket, but attached firmly on my belt!

I am aware of severe limitation on this device, as it isn’t as cutting-edge or modern like most smartphones out there. But I was thinking “Ah what the heck! If not now, then never!”. Best part of this? I actually made some profit by switching!

How To: Synchronize Your Folders with SyncToy 2.0! (Part 1)

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Have you ever:

  • Wished you could copy someone’s shared folder over to your PC so you can own everything that he shares, and then always copy the latest content that he has?
  • Wished that you backup that very important folder into some other PC so that you don’t have to feel very suicidal when your laptop crashes/stolen?
  • Wished you could always keep one other copy of some folders in your hard disk in case the hard disk died/you have to reformat your Windows due to some malicious virus?
  • Wished that there is an easy way to synchronize your music folder with your housemate’s music folder so whatever you have, he has, and vice versa?

I have at least three of the wishes above. Back then when I was still studying, we live in a hostel with a built-in LAN access. So I occasionally will browse through the resident’s shared folders, and often I would find some nice shows/songs that I would like. However, the task becomes very daunting because I would have to click on every folder they have to see if there is new content. (more…)

Lily’s New Playmate

Monday, April 21st, 2008

We’ve got a new playmate for Lily. Lily practically sits alone at home when we’re not around. So we got her a playmate - called Nico!

Took them about 4 nights to settle down and accept each other initially. Now they’re playing all over the place and started to break the house!

How To: Resize Vista’s Desktop Icon

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

There are two ways to resize the desktop icon in Windows Vista. One of the ways is to use one of the three defined sizes:

Right-click on any blank space in your Desktop, and choose “View“, then pick one of the three “Large“, “Medium” or “Classic” size (they correspond to 80px, 48px and 32px respectively). However, these pre-defined sizes might not suit what you need. There is another way to resize the icons. (more…)
