How To: Speed up folder access with Windows Vista’s “Favorites”

If you open up any Windows Explorer instances in Vista, you’ll notice that Microsoft have make the Favorites more visible:

Windows Vista has made the Favorites folder more visible by default

You can actually add links to your own frequently used folders to speed up access. To do this, browse to the parent of the folder that you wanted to add (in my case, I’ll browse to my “D:” drive, since I’m going to add the “Software Library” folder:

Now, it doesn’t get easier than this, just drag the folder into the “Favorite Links” section!

And you’re done!

It’s as simple as that!

Repeat this on all the folders that you want, and you can access them from any folder in no time!

Caught it on the very first day. Maybe because I’m used to Finder in OS X.

Explorer’s sidebar seems flakier in comparison and I’d wish they make the icon slightly bigger; It’s freakishly small!
