Are you a 70’s or 80’s Baby?

Monday, May 14th, 2007

I got this in my e-mail earlier, sent by one of my contact’s contact’s contact’s (…) contact of which I don’t know who. Anyways, here’s how it goes:

Signs that you are a 70s’ or 80s’ baby:

  • You grew up watching G-Force, He-man, Transformers, Thundercats, Silver Hawk, Woody Woodpecker, Chipmunks and Mickey Mouse. Not to forget Ninja Turtles, Mask, Smurfs and Voltron too.

It is amazing how most of these animated series is pretty much fresh in my mind. Especially Voltron, Thundercats and Transformers. The silly song “Cheetara lari laju, Cheetara bukak Baju” (cheetara runs fast, cheetara take off her clothes) and “Thundercat lawan tikus, Thundercat mampus” (Thundercats fights the mouse, and Thundercats die) still ringing! Hormone-powered growing up male kids, can’t expect much eh?

  • Girls watched Japanese cartoon like My Little Pony, “Xiao Tian Tian”, “Hua Xian Zi” etc.

I don’t know the other two, but I sure did watch a few episodes of My Little Pony

  • You grew up brushing your teeth with a mug in primary school after recess time.

Well not exactly everyday, more like once or twice a year

Would You Pay to be Accidentally Dead, Delayed Flight and Luggage?

Friday, May 11th, 2007

I was strolling around KL Sentral to kill time while waiting for the next ERL, and I stumbled upon this bunting (banner):

Travel Partner travel-partner2.jpg

Of course, we all know what this company really means. However, the way they put it is making it sounds like you’re going to pay them to get:

  • Accidental death and permanent disablement (now you can claim from other insurance company right? XD)
  • Your luggage to be delayed on purpose
  • Your travel to be delayed, if not canceled and have your deposit forfeited
  • They will make sure you miss your flight, and if you get on, your relayed flights will be mis connected
  • They will make sure you are booking an overbooked flight at all cost
  • And in the end, everything is your fault (Personal liability)

Imagine the total difference by simply adding the word “protection” or “compensation” behind every one of the “highlights”

“I Only Know MSN”

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I was browsing some of the local forums, and then I saw this post by one of the members:

I Only Know MSN

(nick and avatar and certain details have been removed to protect identity)

I couldn’t decide to laugh, cry or otherwise. There tag “Keranamy.MY” on his nick, yet he didn’t even know about his country.

Sad? or deserved?

What is XD?

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

While this might not be a strange term for most of you that always chats with me via instant messengers, I do get asked "huh? what is 'XD'?". Most of the time I manage to explain it in words.

But sometimes certain people (especially those that takes life way too seriously) fails to understand what does it mean.

'XD' is an emote (yes, similar to :) or :( we always use). Literally, here's now 'XD' would look like:

Researchers found ‘Kryptonite’

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Many of Superman fans will know what a Kryptonite is - a mineral, supposedly green in color, that will weaken Superman upon exposure.

Superman said Oh Noes to finding of Kryptonite!
(Superman image taken from WikiPedia)

However, the 'Kryptonite' (which is actually a sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide substance) that have been found in Serbia recently, it not quite green (although it will glow in orange under a UV light).

Buddha’s Delight

Music and Lyrics Buddha’s Statue

If you've watched Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore's "Music and Lyrics" earlier this year, you would understand where does the song titled "Buddha's Delight" came from.

This song is performed by Haley Bennett, who play an obsessed-with-Buddha-and-Hindu (probably due to the lack of research on the story writer's part, or they're just trying to be funny) pop singer "Cora Corman". In one scene of the movie, she is performing live on stage, and it begins with her coming out of the Buddha statue, singing:

How To: Recording Your Gameplay Videos

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

With the birth of loads and loads of video sharing sites, people are encouraged to create any sort of publishable videos to share (or brag!). One of the questions that I've been asked is "Can I record my gameplay and show it off?"

Record Your Video Games!

Sure you can. This guide is intended for those who don't have any basic at all in gameplay video recording and encoding, thus it will be made simple (and no deep technical stuff!). Let's cut the crap and start, shall we?
